Hi All,

First time poster.

I have an Alroh 20" mower which I am guessing must be at least 40 years old. It goes well and I am wanting to remove the reel so I can take it in for grinding. I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the reel sprocket in order to remove the reel form the chassis.

Some pictures attached for reference. Is this a threaded sprocket perhaps? If so any suggestions as to how to remove as it seems to be locked on nice and tight!

Thanks all.

Hello Tomkatoz
WE do not have any Alroh manuals.
I'm guessing the sprocket is screwed on - in which case it will have a left-hand thread.

These sprockets are generally removed with little effort as per instructions below.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tomkatoz

I have reviewed this and I feel this is the correct procedure.
The reel has a driven sprocket - meaning it cannot have the conventional RH thread.

Many thanks for the excellent images that may help others down the track.

Please let us know the results.

Thanks again Jack.

Your advice was spot on, a left handed thread. The old chain trick worked well too.

Thank you veru much!
