The following short video displays a correctly set up Model 45 reel utilising the recommended Scott Bonnar "Contact Method" as described in their printed owners manual.
Contrary to previous popular belief on this site, the sound of the reel being turned is exactly how it should be when the reel is correctly adjusted.
Turn up the volume and have a good listen to it over and over again, when your reel sounds like this, it is spot on and perfectly adjusted.
Also note there is very little resistance in turning the reel. If its any harder than this you've locked it down too much which will lead to quick premature wear.

*** Please Note,
The machine used in this video is a 20 inch Model 45 which is the hardest to get absolutely perfect due to chassis alignment issues over time and the widest width bed knife and reel of the 45 Series. If your machinist is really good like the one used for this mower then you've got someone that knows what he's doing and uses first class tooling and machinery.
Cheers and Happy Mowing, BB.
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.
The Scott Bonnar Model 45 company documents recommend a contact method between reel and bedknife. This is a reference topic about good sets with the Model 45. As such, this topic is now locked.
