I have just purchased a complete mechanic's manual (i.e. service repair handbook) that was published by James Kirby back in the 60s.

If only I had this manual a few weeks ago, life would have been so much easier.

If anyone needs copies of relevant pages, I am happy to help.

I also wonder if this forum could use a PDF of the entire manual, made available for members to download?

It would be great if you were willing to convert the book to a PDF file for the members to look at.

I think that would be absolutely superb as we are rather Kirby Lauson poor here.

A very generous offer there!

I feel this is an historically important document.
It captures Kirby from the early days.
I guess it must date prior to the mid-1960s
(as the name 'Tecumseh' does not appear.

I am happy to do high quality scans and pdf conversions if needed.

Jack, it is interesting as it does show the Indian head on the cover, but does not mention the name Tecumseh.

That's fantastic news.

There is a story behind the showing of the 'Indian-head' logo
without the name 'Tecumseh' appearing.

Tecumseh was such a clever company - in strategically acquiring
specific companies. They also recognised the value of keeping
established names ... the plan was to gradually introduce the
'Tecumseh' name by the mid-1960s.

Lauson' 4-strokes, and Power Products' 2-strokes gave way to
Tecumseh branded engines.

This is exactly what happened.
