I've just come across this new Victa 160cc full crank short motor for sale.

I don't know if the box is more than the motor?

That ones been up before, you don't seem to get much of a motor for your $450. Only the bottom end.

Yes it's pretty steep for just a short block. I'd roughly guess $200?

The ad says brand new,the box says service replacement engine,if you look
closely half the original engine numbers still remain, the number starts
214,,If it was new you would not see half filed off numbers at the end
of the serial number, if the original numbers are half filed off and
a replacement number is on top of old numbers I would say it is a second
hand reco engine.

Well spotted maxwestern!

Obviously things aren't always as they appear.

I'd say you're spot on !

For that highballed price I'd expect a complete engine and not just a short motor.

Anyway another twit that thinks everything he's got that's old is Gold

Cheers,
BB.

Just shows that if a listing claims to be nos on fleece-Bay, it pays to check it's veracity thoroughly first.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Yes it's very tempting! More so at half the price though.

By the way, it's interesting no one is selling brand new boxed Powertorque engines.

I presume a new boxed Powertorque motor would be around the $300 mark?

If I had money to spend I'd love to buy a couple to store away.

Anyone know if you can still buy them?

I have emailed the seller pointing out the points raised. Be interesting to see if he responds

Hi Norm,

He'll probably tell you to F&#@ off as that's what most sellers do when you point out that their price point is way over the top, that's if he even responds.

They are just looking for a twat that's suddenly gotten into the interest and has the mind set of "I just have to have it" without really thinking of the price until later when they realise they've been burnt.

Cheers,
BB.

Very expensive way to have a bearing pre fitted.

And as the seller has not responded to my email one can only assume he is being deceitful in his wording of the add. He is well aware of the fact it is NOT a new motor and hopefully nobody will fall for his scam

Is there a way to report him? People get away with murder with these online auction sites and E bay know it. What gives them this seeming immunity from consumer laws.
Australia's weak as water consumer laws are another story ( weak enforcement).

Yes if it violates eBay's policy.

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/buy/report-trading.html

You have to pay eBay a final value fee of roughly 11%. So the higher the price the bigger the fee, which suits eBay.

As of July 1, you also have to pay GST unless you provide eBay with an ABN registered for GST.
