Hello ODK Event Lovers
It is an embarrassment that I have never visited Agfest, an agricultural and machinery
field day(s) that has been run here for 34 years. It is in the top 3 field days held
in Australia. Last year, Agfest attracted over 600,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors.
The event generates tens of millions of dollars in sales. I, for example, spent $25
on entry and ate a very tasty $10 Bratwurst roll. Say no more.

Agfest is organised and managed for non-profit, and it is held at Quercus Park,
Oaks Road, Carrick, Tasmania a small historic village 17 kilometers west of Launceston,
Tasmania, Australia, on the banks of the Liffey River. It must be a yearly shock to the
local population of about 500!

Like all Ag shows today, the definition of agriculture has been greatly expanded and
distorted. Anything conceivable can be presented and displayed under that umbrella
including umbrellas, socks, automobiles, boats, jewellery, soy wax candles, organic
herbal teas, crystals, knives, chopping boards and ironing board covers.

Nonetheless, this show was primarily about the men and women on the land with displays
of all types of amazing machinery. I really had no idea what I was looking at half the time.

But there were things I did recognise the old stuff.
