I know all these bits are supposed to go together, however at this stage its a bit daunting.

You would probably make a tidy profit if you sold them separately on Ebay. But ODK members aren't about that. cool

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Oh yes,
Brilliant photos of the operation.
The white cloth makes your workshop look like it has an
operating table, with the light shining down on the body parts.
There's even a surgical bowl.

I think the patient is in good hands!

I don't know what the experts do, but I have decided to put (her) together in a rough mock up fashion without bearings etc, so that I can discover all those little things that I've missed since beginning the rebuild. When I'm confident that all is as it should be, I'll strip it and do the final rebuild.

Already I've found where paint is too thin or didn't quite cover, even though on initial inspection all seemed so great. Even though I have attempted to be meticulously attentive to putting nuts & bolts etc. in their special containers, I'm damned if I can now find everything. So this "mock" rebuild is my attempt to restore memory.

I love the look of the red against green & I believe the brass fittings will add to the final product. Mr Bonnar knew his pleasing colour schemes!

Wow John,

I'm already barring up !

And that's just over the Coke Sign, wait until I see the mower.

Cheers,
BB.

I've worried about your response, BB, because I've painted it in enamel.

Why what's wrong with that. Are you scared about not using Hammertone on the Green ?

Also have you had the reel and bed knife done by Steve yet ?

Cheers,
BB.

That looks great John. By the way, I also notice a refurbished Land Rover bulkhead in the background. It looks great. Just like your mower, they unbolt into many pieces like a giant meccano set!

BB, the original paint for this does not appear to have been Hammertone. I've copied the colour from what was under the engine cover and the 2 brass badges. So unless this was overhauled/painted at some other time in its life, & I think that is highly unlikely given the state it was in, EK53 spectrum green enamel is the closest I could get for a home job

I haven't had the blade done for a # of reasons but mainly due to the time factor & working on a 7 - 10 day roster. I did think about using a courier to get the pieces to Steve, however with the sharpening costs of $180 and courier charges both ways, the $ just didn't add up, so that's one thing that will have to go on the back burner.

LRT, yes, that is indeed a Land Rover bulk head. Series 2A (1967) 88inch, in the process...
