Hi Redeye, In order to look up the replacement engine, I need the existing engine's Model, Type, & Code.

The numbers are etched/stamped into the plate above the exhaust.

See the red circle in the picture below:

A great opportunity to put a powertorque on it.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

This engine has not been superseded. You should be able to order a new Briggs & Stratton with the same model and type.

The crankshaft part number for that model and type is: 796924

It is worth checking the existing engine's shaft as Victa may have modified it from standard.

See the attached technical drawing below:

its been worked almost to death (l'm a contractor) and not worth my while rebuilding it - thanks for the info, much appreciated...and yes, l need to know if the self-propelled victa boss is 7/8" or 1" internally https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/lawn-mo...icta-pulley-engine-4-stroke-vsd-ee14475a

It is most likely 1".

However, Victa may have altered the shaft from the standard 1" size.

Hopefully someone can confirm for you.
