Here is my current project a bitsa ( bits of everything) It has a tecumseh engine mounted on a Rover rebel base.
I had a lot of trouble getting the cantankerous engine to go. It had a good spark so no trouble there. It would fire but not continue to run even with assistance of electric drill. I took carby off twice and cleaned it and still no different Then I took it off again and noticed that the gasket was only half there (duh). So I made a new gasket for it and it goes like the clappers now! even with no blade base for it! Now I have to fine a suitable blade base and blades for it and I think that it will be quiet a good mower. I have also fixed up the handle that was broken. Since the pictures were taken I have added the air cleaner to it.
Here are some pictures.

I do hope you are planning on fitting an air filter before you get to mowing lawns with it. I have a couple of bases with dead ones of those engines but not sure what the base plate set up is that you are after. Is it the one that has a boss with a centre bolt and three smaller bolts?

Defiantly Yes. I have fitted the air filter. The blade setup for the engine is one bolt plus square washer like the victa setup I think

Hi Hermosil, if its a victa setup on the crank, it's probably also running a short shat motor which will put the blade carrier too far up the base to cut lawn low enough.

It looks as though you may be right bigted. I went to my faviourite place looking for a disk an blades for this machine and found out that they dont make blades and disk for a 16" base
banghead and so upon further discussion they let me have a bar blade that might fit. It did with a bit of modifiying of the boss. It sits up about an inch from the bottom of the guard It will cut longrass but It will ony cut down to about an inch high. The mower has only been made out of bits &pieces so it will only be used for long grass grin Anyway no I have to concentrate on getting the cantancerous motor to keep running. At least it keeps me occupied.
