G'day gml, hopefully someone with a parts G65 will chime in on the spring retainer. By the way, are you referring to the retainer [that locks onto the valve stem], or the spring seat? AFAIK the muffler is NLA as OEM, except that some US suppliers seem to have old stock. Not cheap though; these mufflers were always exy. And the leaded fuel used back then rotted out nearly all of the originals, so I don't like your chances of a good secondhand unit. Best option I can come up with is a stainless steel functional repro; http://www.dropbears.com/o/overlander/misc.htmThis would actually work out cheaper than the US option.
Cheers, Gadge

G'day Gadge and gml,
I've not got a spare engine but I'm looking out for one. Is there possibility that a seat from a later Honda or another brand will work? As long as the guide OD is the same and the spring dimensions similar it should work?
Thanks for the link Gadge. I've got a couple of Dad n Dave mufflers on my machines that I'd like to replace one day....
Cheers,

Are these what you are looking for? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HONDA-G30-G35-G42-G65-G80-G150-G200-G300-G400-G400K1-VALVE-SPRING-RETAINERS-/130718921071?hash=item1e6f74716f:g:wYEAAOxygj5Sc64l If not, I have a G150 engine here that needs too much spent on it to make it worthwhile and they list these retainers as fitting a wide range of engines so perhaps the part you are after may be the same in the 150. Post a picture of the muffler as well as it may be the same too.

If they are the same on the 150 I am happy to part the engine out, it needs a new coil, points and carby so not really worth the money for me unfortunately to put back to a runner.

Sorry matey, pulled the side cover off the 150 and dropped one spring down and it doesn't use those, unless someone already took them out, just a very deep machined recess in the underside of the head. Looking at it in the picture though it looks just like a Walsh plug with a hole in it. If you took it to an auto parts place you may be able to find one the same size and just drill it. Alternatively it would be pretty simple to turn up one from a bit of mild steel.
