Hi everybody,
Quick question please.
When screwing the sharpened bedknife to the bottom plate should you use Loctite and what strength please.
Medium?
Bruce
PS I understand an engineer should have done it but funds low so doing it myself.

Errrr - can'o'worms territory.
Best practice is to have the bedknife ground/sharpened while assembled to the soleplate, to ensure that the cutting edge is parallel to the soleplate's axis.
With regard to Loctite, Grade 222 is the go. As the 'weakest' grade, its function here is to fill the interstitial spaces in the screw threads, so that water can't get in to form rust. Which locks things up...
Cheers, Gadge

Each to his own,but I prefer to use anti-seize paste to make disassembly next time easier.

Yep, that's another good way to go, for sure.
