i have just got one of these from a deceased estate i have put in new fuel and spark plug, the problem is it will start on choke and run between 5-20 seconds then cut out if you try and open the choke whilst its running it cuts out, and i cant get it to fire at all with the choke half or full open, i have checked the petrol cap and its breathing ok, have took the exhaust off but still does the same can anyone help ?

wigan,

If the carby is made in Mexico you need to do two things replace the filter in the tank and also the filter in the carby itself (or just remove it).

The problem is that because the filter in the carby is such a tight weave mesh it blocks really quickly and reduces the fuel flow which causes the problem.

This is providing that the cylinder is not damaged but you did not mention that it was when you removed the exhaust.

Hope that this is of some help. cheers2

Sounds like you are having even more fun. With the spark Ryobi has a very week one so make sure the plug is clean before checking and it is in a dark spot so you can see it. woot

Check that you have not shorted out the wire for the switch as well. cheers2
