Hello ODK History Lovers

I like these two photos because they better inform us about what exciting times
the 1960s must have been. The photos depict the building's exterior, and
the fantastic showroom display, featuring the 1963 Victa Range.

The old firm of R. T. Edwards had a long and distinguished history in
Ipswich, Queensland. Though essentially an electrical retailer, commencing
business in 1931, Roy Thomas Edwards would expand the family business, with
a number of stores selling various electrical and household goods. The
family sold the business in 2008.

They sold enough lawnmowers to require a specialist store, located on the
corner of Limestone and East streets, Ipswich. Here, Roy Edwards is standing
in the doorway. They were obviously promoters of the Victa brand and proud
Victa dealers.

The second photo is the exciting one for collectors. It's the inside,
showroom display of the 1963 range; that included the Ambassador, Viceroy,
Envoy and Cadet
. Note the impact the new 4-strokes were making in the market
at this time, and the considerable marketing material Victa were supporting
dealers with. I wonder how many times the word 'Victa' appears in the photo?

The rest is history.
