Hi all,

Newby here. I have an old Villiers Mk 12/2 that I am putting into a small tractor build but am curious about the motors origin. I've read a few posts on here about how the prefix denotes if the engine is off the shelf, or who the motor was assigned to. Is this sort of info available for the searching or does someone have "the" document they can look up for me?

My engine's prefix is 547X and eng no. is 21202

Thanks,
Richard.

G'day Richard75,
A warm welcome to the ODK forums.

We don't appear to have a Villiers Spec Sheet available that covers a Spec Number that high, but the X definitely denotes Australian manufacture. That would have been at Villiers Australia's Ballarat plant. It may have a date stamp on the flywheel, in the format M/YY or MM/YY.

As this is a horizontal shaft engine, used in many industrial applications, it's probably unlikely that it has a customer-specific Spec No., unless it has unusual features like gear reduction or a non-standard PTO shaft.

It has been suggested in the past, that the bloke at http://www.vaces.com.au/ is the best source for Australian Villiers parts, and maybe info too.

A workshop manual download: http://www.nigelpacker.me.uk/Villiers%20WSM.pdf

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks Gadge for the workshop manual download! Awesome stuff.

Thanks voljon for the info on the prefix. How did you come by this info? I've searched the net and can't find any documentation.

Voljon runs a vintage parts/repro decal business [Rustic Spares], so I'd say he has a good collection of old factory dealer literature to refer to.
