Just a quick " Hi " to The Community. Found this site after trawling through various sites trying to locate the user manual for my Ransomes " Conquest " and , lo and behold, found that a member has them on his page!

I live in England ( o.k. I`ll get my coat ! ) in a little place on the coast called Southport. Some of you may be familiar with this place since there is quite a well known lawnmower museum based in the town not five minutes walk from our house. ( www.lawnmowerworld.com )

I have only recently acquired my machine having purchased it from a guy selling agricultural bits `n pieces at a local ploughing competition. I have not touched, or even seen, one of these machines since I was a kid and was surprised when I found out how rare they are.. It has the original decals and paintwork which give it that wonderful patina of age.. I am not going to repaint it.

So, there we go. I am heavily into all aspects of steam, heavy plant, antiquated machinery etc. etc and look forward to reading what you guyz out there get up to.

It's always great to hear from an international guest.

I like your views on patina.
Many members here share that view - the beauty of aging.
I have intimate experience of that view ...

We would love to see a picture of your machine.
Many members will be familiar with the Lawnmower museum.

It was luck that I acquired that Conquest brochure & manual.
I love the Conquest - mainly in terms of industrial art.
It is timeless, and surprisingly rare, as you say.

Thanks for that. That looks a dinky piece of kit; I presume that you own one?

I only joined the site yesterday so am still " having a walk round " so to speak. Plenty to keep me occupied.

Thanks for your reply. As I have just said to "Gizmo " I am enjoying a walk around the site. Seems very well organized and easily navigable, which makes a change compared to some!

Yes, I hope to be able to post some pics of my mower after I have wrestled with the instructions for downloading. I tend to freeze up when it comes to pc matters and following instructions.

We have a Southport here too - in Queensland on the Gold Coast.
It's a seaside place too, but it gets a fair wack of sunshine
People say it's a sunny place for shady people ...
