The base for the electric was purpose made and not usable on other petrol powered utility models.
The blade carrier is Victa, so all correct on the underside. Normal nut and bolt setup is fine as long as your using a spring washer, otherwise nyloc is the way i'd go.

Thanks again bigted.

I suspect a normal, possibly spring washer at the moment, but I'll have a clean and look.

Sorry but I don't think I'll be taking this one back to original!

G'day Patrick and Bigted

I'm with Bigted in not being certain about the four-stroke.
I can find no reference to one being fitted from this time.
I feel it is a replacement engine ...

I will say something about the electric. This one has always baffled
me. Whilst I believe it is the genuine thing - a Model 460 -
I do not think it was sold in this market.

The bumper at the front is decidedly UK market.
In this UK brochure note the odd bumber on the Super24, and
that edger looks AUS made - but not by Victa!

Hi Jack,

thanks for the image, I think bigted has already established the absolute 'bitsa'-ness of my mower, in fact it's so bad it's good!

I note your scanned image has some print-through from the back side of the sheet. Most untidy of you wink but I could make out an interesting bit or two, not least "460"...so I did a bit of image playing. White for black replacement, brightness/contrast/levels and finally an image flip horizontally gives the following. Apologies my skills aren't the best, you'll have to ignore the black-outlined white 'shadow' which is what I tried to hide and concentrate on the black.

Note I think it is slightly confused by a further, but fainter, image from the page behind which again has "460" (reversed) at the top.

Might be worth a couple more scans or page checks, the electric base design might be there?

Cheers,

Hi Patrick

Are you sure you're not 'Professor Pitrack' from the Eric the Mighty Mower books? smile

The book is the 85-86 spares manual.
The next page has the Professional 460 2-stroke with the
same base. I think the only difference is a bigger fuel tank.
The only electric is the rear-catcher 400.

Cheers

Image below from the Victa Electric (Victa 400) thread, post by IanOz (as per bigted)?
Date in next image is Mar 1980 though, so 85-86 a bit late, sorry didn't know year of manual- is there a year/date I missed in the text?

Yes Patrick,

that's the image that gave credence to a Model 460 Electric. And, yes, about the dates.
As I said, I have no records of it, nor does it appear in AUS records (that I have)
of the time. The Victa electrics entered the market in 1980.

I have made speculation that it was a one-off import from overseas (but made here);
maybe it was sold here. I don't know whether it was a local or export model. I do
know a QLD collector has one. Let's wait and see.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone been able to search the approval no Q2686? I've done a quick search and, yes, the Q number should refer to an Qld approval but nothing's on the database seach and it's presumably so old this Q ref may be misleading.

Here is the ERAC national certification database search engine.

Also tried a couple of name searches, e.g. trade name Victa (turns up a few), model no 460, etc.

Cheers,

Patrick
