the bloke i lent it to just told me the best way to take a stubborn bolt /nut off is to use a torque wrench backwards and hit it with a hammer. my brain nearly exploded. i was taught never to use a torque wrench backwards. he wanted to fix this for me and i said no noo nnoo
Yer - a 'mate' it's well to be rid of. I don't loan gear often, and have a rigid policy of 'never loan anything that cuts' [from hard experiences]. And make it plain that onlending isn't on, even with books.
Rellos can be just as bad though - one of mine let his FIL and BIL borrow his trailer to take stuff to the tip. When they got there, they unloaded it, and decided they didn't think the trailer was roadworthy, uncoupled it and just left it there!
Neither of the two have any mechanical background/qualifications at all, either... Rod wasn't impressed, to say the least!
