Yep Super-D,

It looks in good, original condition too.
Quite a nice, simple design.

On your trike.

That's Brilliant Paul!

What a bargain.
I guess the cutter deck can be repaired.

Tampico still exist, so they may have some info. on these machines.
I don't know whether Tampico owned Falcon...?

The original engine was an Eleven Series Briggs.
The PTO for the drive was flywheel side.
I guess the pulley was of Falcon manufacture.

Cheers

Hi Super-D

Yeah Paul, it shows that Fleebay is like a Paris market.
Genuine bargains can still be found for the astute collector.

That should be a good trip... but I've heard bro has dropped 70's
rock in favour of 'Colorado Big Rig Truckin' Songs: volumes 1 thru 24.
That should make for some great bro-bonding.

It will be great for us to learn about this unusual mower.
I guess it has a little worm box and chain for wheel drive?

Cheers

LMAO Jack.... funny you say that, as a real little kids we toured Oz for 3yrs. the music on the 8 track was Slim Dusty... it has been burnt in to my subconscious for Eternity..

The bargains are out there for sure... Trader TAG is another good place for bargains..

This mower has me intrigued as to how it all works.. when you break it down it looks like they had a mower & a Tricycle sitting around. take the wheels off the mower, cut the handle off at the height adjuster. now use the axles as mounting points for the mower deck/engine
then add a drive system to the front wheel. ( that's the most interesting part to me )

Hello SuperD

Paul, it is an intriguing and unusual machine isn't it?
I would like to know more about Queensland's Falcon Mowers,
and find an original brochure on the ride-on.

The wide base of the rear wheels makes me think this was a
machine designed to take a wider cut ... maybe.

Every now and then these unusual designs spring up...
like the reel equivalent to your Falcon, the British Anzani
Easimow (not sold here):

These machines just catch the imagination.
And you have one! I suspect you are an astute collector,
probably influenced by Slim Dusty in your childhood.

p.s. That's an interesting point you make about early music influence:
"it has been burnt in to my subconscious for Eternity."

There is no denying that good country music is soulful and is
in harmony with rural life and experience. I guess that reflects
its being influenced by the blues genre.

I have a love / hate relationship with country:

Love:

Hate:

I can't wait for you to get this machine, and share with
us - and record for history - the little Falcon Trike Mower.
Safe trip.

The rest is history.

Well, A nice road trip, my baby is home...
So far I've found not much about it, the business that made them closed its doors in 2013..

An update: I managed to get a reply from the Owner of Tampico engineering who made these.
Below is the answer I got back;

"Hi Paul, no sorry this was well before my business. Nothing left that I know about

Regards, Lou".

WEll, I guess I'll put the nose back to the grind stone & search some more....

So did Lou buy out Tampico at some stage? Because ASIC has them up to three years ago as being owned by J&T Hermans, who also had a family trust registered to the business. I found a J. Hermans in the phone directory living only a couple of K's from where the factory used to be but when I rang them they sounded very suss. First up they screened my call and when I started explaining to the answering machine why I was calling a woman picked up and couldn't get rid of me quick enough just insisting she had no idea about anything to the point of being quite rude. Made me wonder if perhaps creditors are still after them :-) Thanks for the drawings by the way. Has to go on the back burner a bit, blown head gasket on my Commodore has to get priority :-( Did you find someone to make you up the pulley?

Mmmm? I found a web site that is under construction, It had a contact us section.
That's how I got in touch with Lou. I have sent an email asking for any info or names of previous owners to Lou.

I'm getting my own Lathe next year (Jan) so I'll make it up myself.

Hope they helped, If you need some more detail, let me know...

I see the seller has it listed as a "1950's" Think they might be about 30 years out in their dating somehow.
