Hello ODK History Lovers

The small business of L.W. Griffiths is well known in the Brisbane and Ipswich areas.
This lawnmower firm has been serving the Ipswich community for over half a century!

These photos from the Ipswich City Council archives depict the L.W. Griffiths' stand at the annual
Ipswich Show for the years 1959 and 1962. They are an important time capsule of popular lawn
mower makes of the day. We are lucky these images survive.

NOTE: Larger images are available as a pdf download (below).

[1] THE 1959 PHOTOGRAPHS
The two 1959 photos are spectacular in displaying many of the leading brands of the late 1950s.
We see Victa and Pace of course; but look at the central display of the new 320-02 Pope, and the
Austral-Villiers Adapomatic rotary and Everyman reel mower. Sensational!

This second photo shows a visual view of the main components of the Villiers, Victa, and Pope Engines.
Note the display boards in the background. What a priceless photograph!

[2] THE 1962 PHOTOGRAPH
This 1962 photograph of the Ipswich Show stand is in living colour!
Of particular note is the addition to Griffiths' range of Rover and Scott Bonnar machines.
Note the Rover Slasher and Tiller, and the Scott Bonnar Model 35 and 40. What a treat!

The rest is history.
