What do you think of this. It can be done without destruction of my stuff so I might give it a try. I saw some 6 litre ultrasonic cleaners on Ebay for $187 : Ultrasonic cleaner. These are the cheapest I've seen and I am tempted to get one for Fathers day but deep down I still can't justify the expense on a hobby basis. So I saw this today and thought it might do the trick: Vibrator. The holes and galleries in a carburettor might be too small for it to be effective although he says he's going to clean carburettors with it. I need to get some velcro strips and a large jar like he has. I already have sander that never gets used.

Well I tried it and it might have worked if I left it on but it made so much racket I couldn't stand any more than a few minutes.

I wounder if it has to be something to vibrate as face as a sander. I think I will look into this, WHY low cost
Also, it might be as effective to gently agitate the container rather than using a sander.

An ultrasonic cleaning is a process that uses ultrasound (usually from 20400 kHz) and an appropriate cleaning solvent (sometimes ordinary tap water) to clean items.

All you need is something out of balance. In the gemstone polishing industry we use an old motor mounted under a tray with a collar on the motor shaft with a bolt sticking out one side of the collar to provide the out of balance. The tray is vibration mounted using rubbers such as shock absorber rubbers and they run like that for years and years with very little in the way of noise, especially using things like old washing machine motors that are synchronous rather than commutator style motors such as you would find in sanders or drills.
