Hi. I bought this mower (Rover i5500) for $20 but it doesn't have a blade holder. Does anybody here have a picture of the correct one they could upload please. That would help me with my search for the part. I have googled and googled and although there were plenty of pictures of the mower there were none of the blade holder. If the proper one is too hard to get or is too expensive I am thinking of removing the boss and replacing it with the usual Rover boss. The one with the centre bolt and 3 smaller bolts around the outside. Then I could use the blade holder in the picture at the bottom. Is there any reason I shouldn't do that, safety wise? It's Ok. You can all stop looking. I found it. In case anyone else is curious here is what it looks like. [Linked Image]
It is a "high lift" blade disk. They're a bit scarce here. The "high lift" design would make a normal flat disk too far away from the grass I think.

The victa disc in the first post would not have fitted neatly to that boss on the crankshaft, now youhave the correct one, if memory serves me correctly, 19" honda blades and bolts are identical to the genuine rover item (for this disc only) and cheaper than the genuine artocle.

Yes, definitely uses the 19" honda blades. The GA spares catalogue lists them as the same part number as the honda blades.

Guess what-I found the blade holder on a second visit to the recycle centre. Had to pay for it but it was still worth it. Went to work on the mower and it wouldn't go. Opened the valve cover and both rocker arms were completely disconnected from the push rods and valves. Used information on another post to set the valves and now it purrs like a kitten. Big thanks to all those here and on the other post.

Pushrod Honda preferrer
***
It sounds as if the cylinder head has been removed, sparker. It is usual practice to rotate the rockers sideways on Honda engines and remove the pushrods before taking the head off, then put them back in after reinstalling the head. It sounds as if someone forgot the final step of pushing each valve down and rotating the rocker back into position, after the head was back on. Incidentally you do much the same thing if you want to measure the compression pressure with the decompressor disabled: you just remove the exhaust pushrod. Here is an extract from the HR194 workshop manual:
