I have a toro 2 cycle lawnmower. When I start it cold, it starts on the first pull. After running for a few minutes and the engine is hot if I turn it off I can not restart it. If I let it sit for 20 minutes and it is cold again, it will once again start on the first pull. A friend told me he thought the magneto/ flywheel assembly needed to be replaced. How about a second opinion?

This will be very easy to check, simply check for spark when the engine is warm and won't start. My long distance diagnosis though is that the engine is worn very badly and is losing compression when it is warm. Please let me know how you come out.

THAT ENGINE IS MADE BY SUZUKI AND IS VERY HARD TO WEAR OUT. I WOULD CHANGE THE GAS CAP AS IT MAY BE VAPOR LOCKING. I MOWED FOR 7 YEARS COMMERCIALLY (150 YARDS A WEEK) AND NEVER WORE ONE OF THOSE ENGINES OUT. SO IF ITS NOT THE CAP IT MAY BE THE IGNITION.

I APPOLOGIZE I DIDNT READ YOUR PROBLEM VERY WELL USUALLY THE GAS CAP IS RELATED TO DYING WHILE RUNNING NOT TURNING IT OFF AND COMING BACK TO THE MACHINE
