Hi all, thanks for the great forum. I have picked up a Scott Bonnar that is too big for my yard and family members to use. I need to move it on so I can get a smaller one. I would love to know any information on the model I have. Model no. 65030. I haven't been able to find much searching the web. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tony.

Hi Tony, welcome to Outdoorking.

That's a Scott Bonnar Model 65, 30", with a Honda engine which has probably been retrofitted. I understand your view that it is a bit on the industrial-strength side for home mowing, but a fine machine nevertheless.

I'll leave it to Deejay, our SB guru, to pick this up.

Hi Tony,

I think you'll find that the part of moving it on will be somewhat harder than expected as these larger industrial units have a very limited market. I had two Supercuts and found that I only had one enquiry on the 20 inch unit which was for sale, luckily it sold and now I can concentrate on the restoration of the Petrol 18 inch machine, which will be worth very little but I'm just doing it for SB heritage value and a bit of a trophy I guess. Yours will only be worth anything to a small cricket club that wants a second hand unit. Do you have the catcher with it ?

As Grumpy mentioned it's basically the weight of these machines that makes the domestic user turn away from them and that's why the Model 45 is so much more popular as you can flick them around corners and shrubs etc.

Best of luck with it and hopefully you can find it a new home.

Cheers,
BB

Thanks for that info.
Hopefully I will get lucky and find buyer. It would be an awesome machine if you had a simple lawn to mow. It has however sparked a desire to find the right cylinder mower for us. They are cool machines.
I do have 2 catchers. 1 average condition and the other less than average.

Cheers Tony.

Hi again, can some one please clarify what the 30 inch refers to? The ID plate on the mower is 65030 which I believe indicates the 30 however the cutting cylinder is ony 24 inches wide. When I look closely at the Id plate it actually has a 4 stamped over the 0. Very confusing to me. I just want to make certain I am advertising the correct machine. Any help much appreciated. Hi again Toeknee,

The Scott Bonnar Model 65 was produced as an industrial machine and came in different set-ups depending on the customers wishes..(eg. number of blades in the reel, petrol or electric, roller scrapers, teasing rakes etc.) and in 2 cutting widths 24" and 30"
The basic information on the Model in the ID plate; it is a Model 65...and the other numbers determine the fit-out that your particular possessed when delivered, in your case 030 or 034 (your plate is so badly damaged I cannot read it).

It does not relate to cutting width with industrial machines. wink
When you advertise it, it should read Scott Bonnar, 24 inch, Model 65, with a Honda petrol engine. wink

Hi Deejay,
I have sold the mower. Picked up a little 14 inch 45. Much easier to use. Stopped working at the weekend though! Will no doubt have some questions for the forum soon to help her back to working order. Thanks again for your help.
Cheers Tony.
