Hi all, I have just gotten myself a Scott Bonnar 38 edger for 50 dollars, all looks to be in good condition and appears to have all of the original parts on it. I have chosen to rebuild it so I will probably be starting with the frame and blade area and leaving the engine until last. The only problems are the starter clutch squeals and it is missing the handle grip on the lever, if anyone has any tips to help me along the way or if they know where to get the handle grip from it would be really good. Here are some pics of the model 38.

That's a great score. I've been looking for one myself to join my SB family, very jealous! I'd imagine the handle grip will not be easy to acquire, but the starter clutch is at least a simple fix. I look forward to seeing your progress, many thanks for posting.

For info on the squealing starter clutch...See Grumpy's post HERE

For the height adjuster and handlebar grips, they will be almost impossible to find unless someone is wrecking out one of these machines, as rubber parts of this age don't last long, particularly if the machine has been exposed to the elements.

Your Briggs 60112 was manufactured on the 20th September 1977, so your edger would be a 1978 model.

Hi deejay, thanks for all of that info and as for the pic of the handle grip, that was only taken about a week ago by a mate so I guess he is very lucky to still have a grip in such good condition. As for the clutch I actually fixed that earlier this year so ill have another go and if that doesn't fix it I will just have to order one. :)
