Since moving to this sunny warm part of the globe.I have had and add or two on gumtree. The other day I though time to change the wording. The add was only on for a day or two. When somebody said, yes come get my old dead mower, well sort of those words. Here's what I pick-up today. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10986-102_0892.jpg) This was how it was when I got home. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10987-102_0893.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10988-102_0894.jpg) Check out that great spark plug lead. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10989-102_0897.jpg) After a 10 minute wash down. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10990-102_0898.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10991-102_0899.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10992-102_0900.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/05/full-5048-10993-102_0901.jpg) From what I can find on this mower it was made October 2007.Would that be right? I just thought they were a bit later than that.

Good score there Blumby. The year is about right although i think they've been making the tornado style bodies from about 2003/2004. Either way it's damn good for nothing and should return a decent dollar once you fix the lead.

Well I hope so. I may have to slap some paint underneath though as it has been left for quite some time with grass under it. So some rust has started to form. There is something funny with the muffler that i Will need to look at. Other than that and the lead I think it will run.

Hey guys, I just finsished getting one of these ready for a bloke at work who wanted a newer mower. It was working when I picked it up but not real well.
I actually ended up replacing the bearings as there was too much movement in the crank for my liking. It ended up having a bung bottom bearing however the top was ok. I replaced both to be safe.
Piston and rings were near perfect so I didnt touch them bar giving them a good clean.
I was thinking the bung bottom bearing may have something to do with the longer crankshaft and the longer boss?
The wheels on my one were sh*t so I replaced them with good quality ball bearing wheels off a parts mower. I'll whack some photo's up tonight to show you.
Not sure why but I have been finding a lot of grumbling and loose bearings in power torques lately. Mainly the newer ones. The older ones seem ok.

Yeah Peter, powertorques from about 1998 onwards can be problematic with bearings. They tend to scream and whine a bit. Victa obviously changed their supplier to save a few bucks and this was the result.

I bet you'll find that those are the china made engines and not the Australian made ones.

Victa has been getting power torque engines imported from china for many years. If I think it started some time in the 1990's.I'll have a look when I get home and see if I have any pictures to show the different's between the Australian and china made engines.

Yes it is sad and the quality went out the window. No where near as got as the ones done here.I'm not sure that any are made here anymore. Not that there is many two strokes made anymore. I looked on the Victa web site the other day. Out of 47 models only 5 where 2 strokes. Sad me thinks.

Hey Guys, I just finished rebuilding the same mower. With some new bearings from Bruce's shop the thing runs like brand new. Wheels had to be swapped through with some old school strong ones! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/06/full-6412-11094-img_0213.jpg)

Good work. It does look odd with old utility wheels on it.

You are correct. Both back wheels are utility wheels and the front wheels are off one of my scrap mowers with the heavy steel bases. These mowers have the same size front and back wheels so I am still working on getting something that matches at a decent price. If you put small wheels ont he front the base slants forward and looks really silly. This one is for sale so if you know anyone around the ACT that needs damm good mower sing out!
On a seperate note I havent heard from Ty in a while. Hope he is doing ok.

Don't think you'll be selling that for a few months. It would be to cold there for mowing. Will give you time to find better wheels. Ty's doing OK I spoke to him only a few days ago. He was moving into his own place. Hopefully that went well.

It was just along the lines of I'd pick up them up.I'm not a scrappy and that I reuse not wreck them.Mind you I have only got one reply now.So I'm getting sad.I guess it just has to be refreshed otherwise it goes to far back and nobody can see it.

Well I was hoping it would work.I guess the only real problem is the hard rubbish collection that goes on here.If somebody wants to throw out there old mower there not going to look on the internet to get rid of it.There just going to take it out the front and leave it.So it makes it hard,as it is quite a large area and it goes all year round here. The only problem is you can't do it all year the cost starts to add up and for what is picked up.You'd end up basically having every mower costing somewhere between $30 to $50 each. Then fixing the ones you can and sell trying to recover your investment. So I just go around the areas near home.I think this weekend is my last for the year as it goes over to the north side after that.So I'm hoping I can get a good haul this weekend to get me through until it gets closer again.

Managed to get some better wheels. rather than those above. To me they look much better. I think it turned out pretty decent. Me thinks project complete. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2013/06/full-6412-11192-img_0225.jpg) How is your going blumbly. Id be interested to know if your bearings were ok in the mower? Mine were shot but they are nice and quiet now!

That does look better than how it was.I haven't had a chance to look at my one yet.Still could be a few weeks away from that.Just have to many other mowers to sort out at the moment, but I will get there.
