I have a McCulloch line trimmer that, in most respects, works just fine. The problem I have is that no amount of tapping will advance the line. I have assembled/disassembled, wound/unwound, held my tongue to the right instead of the left on countless occasions but cannot get a result. HELP !!!!!

PS: Bruce, have posted this before but was away for a few weeks and did not see your follow up question. The answer is that it is a twin line trimmer Model:Roadrunner III.

I have a McCulloch MAC 3227 line trimmer and I have all sorts of problems:

1. It won't start, no matter how you do it!
2. When it does start and you've gone through a tank of fuel, it doesn't start again
3. And I also can't get the line to advance, like you, you can tap till your arms get sore and it doesn't work.

I think McCulloch trimmers and chainsaws were horrible and everyone I go to says the same thing!! I'm buying a Honda 4 stroke trimmer (UMK422UNU)

I can send you a a parts list showing how the unit is assembled just e-mail me. Now as to the line not comming out usually people wind the line in two different directions which means one part of the line starts to come out and the other goes in. Both lines are to be wound in the same direction and avoid twisting them over each other. Another thing that you can do is put some baby powder on the nylon inside the head as this will help as well.
If this does not help just e-mail me and I will try to come up with some more fix's for you.

If the machine is not serviced correctly or pre dedlivered you will have problems starting the unit and it sounds like the mixture is out on the line trimmer or your cylinder has scoring in it. But the problem sounds like it could be carby related and I require more information off you to help you fix it correctly.
