Away from all the fun of fixing and restoring,I got curious just to know what all you guys and girls use as your every day lawn care.So I'll start with my guys.The real workers.
Here is my small army of grounds keeping tools.

From left to right Victa 2 stroke tilt-a-cut (better known as Eddie Edger)Victa 2 stroke (Mow Mow) Victa 4 Stroke (Brum Brum) Ryobi 2 stroke blower (Benny The Blower) and Ryobi 2 stroke wiper sniper (Willy Wiper).Yes I know its sad that I named them,but they are my friends too.




So lets see your workers now.I'd like to know what you use.

hey , we have two supers before that in town we used a vc mustang and honda utility

Cool you must be mowing a very large area.

hey yeah we are on 2 acres have a ride on also like to use the supers tho keep fit rather than driving around drinking haha .

Well that's fair enough beside its much more fun watching the mower work and watching the grass get cut down. Can't do that when sitting on a ride on.

I just use this currently, (photo courtesy of mr davis - it was his mower) I had done it up for sale, buyer pulled out because they could get a brand new chonda for $89 at bigW.

My current workers i use the rovers an let the victas sit back an rest :-)

Well that's a good idea. No need to wear the victa's out. Like Joe is doing using the rubbish before the good ones. Doesn't it just suck these really cheap imports its making it harder to sell good quality second hand mowers.

That tecumseh powered victa has infact been one of the most reliable and powerful ones I have had, it was in such good nick when I got it, good tip for that engine is to always check the oil, it does use a little, and I think that is the engines weak point, apart from the rediculous carby.

Yes I guess your right.I know I had a similar one that I left with Ty.I think it was the same engine just different cowl.It ran and ran well the only problem with it was,was a kill switch problem.I didn't finish it and I don't think Ty will he really hates them.Yet it seemed to be such a great mower.

this was the 'daily' but seemed too good for that but a great machine . now mainly use ones for sale as a test , when i have grass ! ...
the adger is a little beauty , but i dont think its meant to have a blade on it ? you can see it in amongst the others , and line trimmer is a dirty old talon !!! fitted with some sort of dsc with plastic 'lines' . works well but a loose fit . NOT something i would give/sell to anyone . but i think it works well ,i'll get a pic' of it if anyones interested

Yes I know what you mean before my mowers got here I had to do the lawns with my VC-160 auto drive mark I. A good mower yes but more of a collectible now not one for working and getting damaged.

This is my current work force

- Victa Vantage 2 Stroke that we bought new in 2004 hence the emotional attachment
- Honda Buffalo Buck HRU19R I bought on ebay from someone who kept it in mint condition. Cost me $90!
- Honda Buffalo Buck HRU19D I bought as flood damaged but have got it running new thanks to members of this forum. Also cost me less than $100.
- Hitachi/Taanaka blower bought new and is the best blower i have owned
- ECHO blower - just acquired this one, near new condition not sure what I will do with it but since i got it for $70 i may keep it lol
- Victa RAZOR straight shaft trimmer with HONDA 25cc motor. Againg near new and very good trimmer.

Wow two blowers you must have a lot of wind there. It does look like a good army you have there. Grass beware.

Just curious Blumbly but in the pick of your army you have the victa 4 stroke but just wondering if the motor is a Briggs & Stratton 5 hp motor.As it looks identical to mine.A Qauntum XM 50.Apoligies if i am wrong but everything looks identical to mine except mine is the red version. I have the Masport Mower.

I will post up a pic when i get a chance of my lawncare equipment.

Yes vic 18 you would be right in saying that.That is what that lad is running.I'm not sure as to what horse power it is,but I think for memory it is a 12 cubic inch engine.It (I think) is the biggest engines Briggs that were put on a rotary push mower,I could be wrong and if I am please someone correct me.

this is my new addition. the last one was a 35 year old hand me down which finally died.
this one cost me $100 and it has run once last week but i couldn't get it to start yesterday? is there anyone in the Brisbane region that knows about these and would be happy to show me around my latest purchase? Happy to supply the "drinks"

They are the biggest that i have seen on a push mower.The Quantum XM 50 is a 5 h.p unit.
Something i have found from experience from mine is that at the front there is little linkage that connects to the throttle cable and also the governor spring for the Carby. On the linkage there is a little loop that Governor spring attachs to.This little loop is very susceptible to being hit and bending back stopping the Carby from being fully opened and consequently motor won't reach maximum revolutions.
I have changed the air filter 3 or 4 times.
Changed the engine oil frequently to try and keep it clean and have found this aids in better starting as well.Still on the original spark plug.

vic18 is right about the bumped piece i get a lot of them i had one changed the filter lots also then i put a snorkel filter near the handle never needed to change again back to the topic i use a suzuki 2 stroke on a rover base with mulcher plug a jonsered gr2036 brushcutter a talon back pack leaf blower i got brand new from someone who needed a mower and the kill switch was Poo from factory and i did use a ryobi split shaft whippersnipper until the other day wen i aquired a almost new sanli whippersnipper with busted starter so fixed that to fit ryobi expand it fittings and have pruner trimmer strait shaft and bent shaft attatchments
