OK, so I have found some new info that may help restorers who want to achieve originality on machines with G4 or LM Carburettors.
To summarise:
The G4 was never factory fitted with a white face with incorporated primer bulb, however swapping over to the white face was a recommendation by victa to service centres.
The Remote primer set up was not necessarily a factory option, instead it seems to be a kit victa released to service centres in 1977, the year before the LM superseded the G4, this would also explain why it's use is rather hard to pin down to any particular age.
The first G4 carbys did not have the wavy washer, instead they hat a locking clip, and the boot that covered the cut out assembly was not as soft, nor the same shape as now.
for example, if you want to restore a 500 twin to 1975 spec, aside from making sure your engine does not have later twin modifications (crank fins, heat shield, etc.) you would need to have the original T shaped cut out boot, no primer, a short, but full cut out pin rubber, no jet filter, and a lock clip instead of a wavy washer, as well as a number of other specifics for that model.
