Well Here it is, My Never started, Fresh from the box after 40 years, 1972 Victa VC-160 MKIIIa (72VJ-V111)

And last, but certainly not least, the Boxes, yes, Boxes, not Box, he brought along the pieces of the original mower box, as well as the catcher box, I think I can get them back together fairly well, and on top of that, I'm looking into having reproductions made of each, and this helps heaps!!!











The Writing on the foam cover for the starter is the last part of the engine number.

There are a number of things that I have picked up from this mower, and probably more to come, which will all be incorporated in the VC-160 thread.

If anyone has questions about the mower, or want's a photograph of something specific, please feel free to let me know!

I will be cleaning it up a little (lightly dealing with the rust) and putting a little effort into preserving it, Then I will be making a case for it!

Thanks, I've been carefully over it, and worked out what needs doing;

The rust to the top of the cooling cowl and muffler has bubbled through the paint, causing alot to come off just by wiping it clear of the dust, so I will be carefully applying a small amount of black paint to these area's to cover it over.

Aside from that, a toothbrush, some penetrene, and a few denim rags have cleaned everything else up really well, so nothing else will be done to these area's.

The bare metal (non-chrome) parts will be cleaned, polished, and given a mild artists clear coat (I chose one used to preserve paper, as it is much thinner than clear coat, and can be wiped off with a rag and water, it also does not have it's own sheen, so it does not detract like clear coat can on bare metal)

The cowl will need a little gentle heat where it has warped, and the air hose needs to be placed over a broom handle for a little while to level out the kinks from being folded for 40 years.

Aside from that the only issue is the marks on the front of the base, caused by termite activity, which I am having trouble working out how to remove without damaging the paint.

I have put oil in the bore and circulated it gently, but it will indeed never be started.

The box is going to be interesting, I have sought the help of a friend who works in document restoration/preservation, and the first step is a special glue i need to get to put the pieces back together.

Looks great Ty that's a rare find good to see it receive a home where it will be well looked over.

Sorry guys but the photos just don't give it the justification it deserves. I have seen it with naked eyes, it is truly a sight that one just finds it hard to take it in.Truly magnificent.If any one deserves it, it would have to be Mr.VC-160 himself. Ty well done; once I have got my VC-160's restored we have to get them all together for some photos.Well done man,now just look after her.

Hi Ty, I must agree with Jeffrey's sentiments, you really deserve this one... a VC started your interest in lawn mowers....now you have a NOS example to add to your collection. Well done mate and from Di and I.
