Simply amazing, shame they aren't including the box and I have no way of picking it up or I would throw a decent amount of coin at it

I'm hoping to scrounge the money together to put in a decent bid, I can't begin to say how much I would like this mower.

It's a 1972-1973 V111 VC-160 Series 3, which is the exact same mower I inherited from my father years ago, which started me down the path of lawnmowers.

Not only that, but I have reason to belive the current bidder is one of the "Part's Merchants" who will simply buy it, rip it apart and sell of the NOS parts individually, so that only makes me more determined to find a way to buy this one!!!

Cheers
Ty

Ty, You have a PM mate, over my dead body it will be going to a parts mechant. I reckon we will get it cheaper than a new 2 stroke victa!

Actually, done right you can actually make more from the parts, not as much with a full NOS mower as with a regular early peice, but it's still possible.

The saddest part is that it's not all the parts either, the engine as one unit, carby seperate, deco seperate, wheels, blade plate and cowls cwould go for sale.

But the guy in question would be likely to take the base to scrap.

For some people it's all about the $$$ and to hell with the history of it all, which with a machine like this is a real shame, as the profit from buying it then selling it off in parts is not much and once it's done, it can't be undone!

OK, it's crossed the $200 mark now, Let's see how this goes.

Fingers crossed everyone!

And, he has now found the NOS catcher, Chute and the box for the catcher!!!

Thanks Darryl, I'm very excited about this one, I'll be grabbing it on friday, bringing it home for a nice bath to get the dust off, and then it's time for a photo shoot.

After that, I'll be building it a nice display case!

Cheers

Once again it went cheaper than a brand new 2 stroke victa, and would last 6 times as long even if somone had got it for an everyday mower lol

Well done mate, and dont forget to find out about that thing we were talking about wink

No worries mate, I'll look into it!

I certainly won't be mowing with it, but yes, I agree, I've seen VC-160's still going strong without intervention after 40 years, and you wont get that out of a newbie... Except this newbie!

I may well never start it, it's a hard call, because I believe mowers deserve to live out there function, however once you loose the 'Never Run' badge, you can't get it back!

Cheers

Just don't forget man when you bring it here for me to look at (and you will),just bring a few box's of tissues.Just to wipe the druel that will fall on it.I've never seen a near 40 year old new mower up close. Especially a VC-160.You lucky little turd.

Easy call I'say.

It seems the way you are going Ty you may well end up as THE collector of Victa mowers and the like, so I would carefully get some two stroke oil into it for safe keeping! (a few squirts and give it slow turn over with the head facing up) Also I get some of those Anti moisture crystals and put a large bag of them hidden in the display case, (made as air tight as is reasonable) that will keep any minor surface rust and corrosion caused by moisture at bay over time.

Give it a few thousand years and Academics will tell tales of mower gods, High priests, & cultivated grass! lol

I think that's the way I'm headed, I'll also be gently doing what I can for the surface rust it has developed over the years, without being aggressive enough to take paint.

And some area's may get a clear coat put on, but to keep it minimal, I'm looking at a protective spray used for paper, which i will be testing on other metal surfaces before applying, to make sure it does not leave a thick or obvious film.

But I have some more experiments to do (on other mowers of coarse) before I decide the exact preservation method to be used.

And after thinking about it today, I have decided once and for all, it will indeed not be started, you can't go back from giving up the never started tag!

Anyway, I grabbed it today, and took plenty of photo's when I got it back here (194 in total) here's some of them: N.O.S VC-160 Thread!

Cheers
Ty
