to clock or not to clock?

I grabbed it. Nearly forgot. Lucky the bin was still there, it was on top of a full one.

Looks to be in pretty good shape. A bit worn around the muffler/exhaust hole. One of the engine mount holes is a bit damaged, not much wear on the edges.

I was thinking i might grab a clock kit and go nuts.

I think that would come up quite nice, I would love to see it when you are done.

I might even give it a go myself, I have an old model 5 base hanging on the wall, have not got around to doing anything with it yet.

Cheers
Ty

I'm at the big fat no on that one Bob.That is a Model 4 base.Could have been a model 4 Standard or the Automatic.See if there is some wear at the front and back clips,if there is then I'd say it was an automatic.I would find a Model 5 base to clock it,but not a model 4.In fact if you wanted I could swap you a model 5 base for the model 4 base. The model 4 standard base I have (will have to check) I don't think is as good as that one.

Hi Ty, I suspect it has something to do with the two small holes on the left hand side adjacent to the support castings for the axles both front and back....perhaps to fit the guard for the auto?

Stress less. If it becomes a clock it will not be molested in any way.

The only thing non-original is the small scratch just above the oil stain on the right. Its a fresh one.

I need to find a brass dome nut.
I was thinking of getting my mate to polish up the tops of the axle clamps/adjusters. Not sure, i think it would ruin the patina. It is in pretty good shape considering its age.

[Censored] that's a good base.I would love to be able to swap you either a model 5 or maybe even another model 4 base.As I feel that one is in better condition than the one I have.

I would not object to swapping it for one the same (or slightly different).

Im actually quietly wondering to myself if my clock needs axles and wheels.
Do you have any crappy axles and wheels Blumbly??

I might even lash out on a slot cover i saw on eBay.

I would have some wheels that wouldn't be the greatest for pushing, but should clean up enough for you clock idea.I would have to look for,as you say crappy axles.I know I did have some that I was questioning on whether to fix them.I think I do still have them.I'll have a look.I will try tomorrow but I do have 7 mowers I need to wreck out tomorrow, and one to strip base and change base.So hopefully I will get a chance to look for you tomorrow, actually as I sit here typing I'm remembering and yes I think I do still have them and I think I know where they are.I will check tomorrow for you..

Hi Bob after having a clean up,yes I would have a set of axles.I found about 4 bases here all with axles still on them.I will bring one of them when we come down there.I'd like to swap bases as I'm going to restore my Model 4 Automatic and a Model 4 Standard,so I really need that base you have.
