That is a very good Job, I'm excited to see the end result now, bet you wont even know there was a hole!

How much did that set you back, and where did you go?

Cheers
Ty

It was a $100 for both bases. The department store base was very very bad.It has had a lot of welding done.Any worse and it may not have been fixable. When it is done you will never be able to tell that some fool cut out that section.[Censored] fool.....with a stick.

That might be a usefull thing to keep in mind, there are a few here that i thought would have to go, but if they can be fixed like this one, they may get a second chance at life.

It's particualry good for the rare ones, I now wish i had not thrown out my old corvette base, a well, I should be OK, that reminds me, i should go see if the one i found is still available!!!

Who did you take this to Jeffery?

Cheers

Yes well I wish I could do it for my corvette 2 base, but it's buggered on the top as well.Welding won't help. However the newer base for my Cortina 2 should be easier to repair.I took it to Baxter engineering on Gladstone St in Fyswick. The last job I had we got them to do some work on the trucks there. So I seen how good there work was.So that's why I took them there. As you can see [Censored] good. You know how on say the model 5's the edge wears down.Well on this base we did an experiment.Which by the look of it will work.So even if they are worn on the side I can fix it so they will be round again.Clever I am.Just ask me.Which really means F.I.G.J.A.M.

Thanks for that, I'll keep them in mind.

What is the experiment for the model 5 base?

Putting the roundness back on the side.Where they go flat, from people running into concrete and garden edgers.

I see, that is something else i may keep in mind, I'm guessing what you are talking about is using a weld to build it back up, then grinding it down to shape?

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the result with this one when it has been grinded, sanded and painted.

It seems to me you are going to end up with bits of Goliath being uised to fix up the busted twin, rather than the other way round, as you forst intended.

I think I'm going to put the spare engine on it and just change the dead decompression value on that one.The spare engine appears to be in better condition and does have the right leads and ends on it.

I imagine you could probably get both running in the end, however considering the condition of the other base, and the issues with it's engine, it might be better kept as a source of parts to maintain your complete one.

I don't know I was thinking if I could get a supreme engine and cowl.(Not the broken one from Brisbane) I could make up my own Supreme.Just use the spare base.

Yeah but it is also fixable.I mean yes it would be good to get one of them gold bases. The one I have would need welding and some panel beating on the front, but is fixable. This twin base was just easier to repair as it only needed the plate welded.

That sounds like an Idea then, but see how you go getting a supreme first, They still pop up often enough, particualry the black & green one.

I have found a little more info on the coil change, I'll pop it up tonight.

Also if you wait till next week im going to see a guy down in Geelong about some mowers.
A mate of my Ex is orgnaising it with some guy he works with. Apparently he has a twin as well. The deal was he has 4 mowers for me that he wants rid of. Has others, twin included, and by the sounds i may be able to purchase. Will not know any more till next week.

Had a visit from Mr Davis today and while he was here I got him to fit the repaired excelerator cable to my twin(Goliath).Tried to start while he was here, but Goliath didn't want to go.Happy to say after he had left Goliath wanted to go and now although it needs adjusting it now works the correct way.It is now not backwards,so you push it to rev harder and it does.Just need to fix hoses and depression valve now. Then get back to the restore.
