Hi All

I am working on refurbishing an early 90's Victa Mustang 2 stroke. I have managed to get the mower running using a spare carby that I had off a Victa Hurricane 2 stroke. The Hurricane mower while it was together also had the same problem.

The throttle works as on start the engines slows and on run it speeds up to full revs, however once the throttle is moved to the off position the mower keeps running at full throttle. mad

I have checked the cut out wires in the carby and they are all in the correct position. I have removed them and reinstalled them but the machine does not want to turn off.

WTF

Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

cheers2

Hi VC Victa,

Have you checked the throttle cable where the screw goes into the plastic (air filter end) for the adjusting of the throttle. What happens is that the plastic is supposed to screw on the throttle cable in order to adjust it for higher RPM's and for the correct stopping position.

Do you subscribe to the parts list and manuals area as it has workshop information on how to set it up including pictures?

Also when you put the throttle control to the stop position you should have a match head gap between the throttle control and the plastic air filter housing when in the stop postion. cheers2

Hi Bruce

I have had a look and adjusted the cable at the plastic air filter end, it works smoothly now but the engine still does not turn off when moved to the stop position. mad
Do you know anything else that I could check, I have checked the seals and gaskets and all seem to be fine.

Also I am looking into converting my Victa Commando 2 stroke into a mulch and catch mower and wanted to know if this part (Victa 4 Blade Genuine Disc Suits 18 Mulcher CA09426G) would be the correct disk to attach to the mower, also is it possible to purchase mulch plugs? confused

cheers2

i had the same problem with my power torque, u can check if the cut off wires actually work by taking them out of the carb and touching them against each other while the engine is running (just make sure you are holding the insulation of the the wires), its difficult to explain how i fixed it, just make sure they are in well and if they touch when the throttle is in the off position, if not they aren't in properly, or the carb isnt adjusted properly.

Try turning off the fuel tap and should turn off after a minute.
