Hi all, I've just purchased a 2nd-hand Masport 5HP Rotahoe. Does anyone have any experience with this machine? I don't have an operating manual so any hints about operation and maintainance would be appreciated. Maybe someone knows where I can get an operating manual?
Bruce, thank you for access to the diagrams. I have a Masport 5hp Rotahoe that I purchased mid to late 80οΏ½s. After a long period of non-use, I have been using the hoe again. I have encountered problems with what I believe to be the drive chain stretching. The engine runs fine, but when putting into gear there is no drive applied to the tines & there is a very unhealthy sounding grinding noise. From reading prior posts on this subject, it seems parts availability may be a problem. Am I able to purchase anything to repair the hoe, either as a complete unit or new chains? Also, from looking at other posts, is the chain drive held together by bolts, because there is no evidence to indicate that, looking like the drive housing has been pressed together. There does not appear to anything holding it together. Failing that, if the hoe cannot be repaired, what is your recommendation on the purchase of a new rotary hoe. Thank you.
Bruce, thank you for the access to the parts lists downloads. I have a 5hp 2 speed belt driven Rotahoe to restore! It seems pretty well complete, although the engine needs attention, and the wheel/axles seized up. Where do I find the Serial Number? What does the stabiliser bar actually do? At the moment, it is horizontal, secured with a spring clip.
Are you the source of spare parts? If so, do you have a list of what is available, please? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The 'stabiliser bar' is used to control the cultivating depth, and also the forward speed, when digging. The horizontal position is for transport; i.e. when wheeling the machine around. The bar is dropped down to the vertical position when cultivating.
Here's a YT video that shows how to use this design of front-tyne machine correctly;
It's good that your machine is so complete; this bar is often missing from used machines, removed by previous owners who couldn't work out its correct use. Its absence makes the machine rather difficult to use!
I'd doubt that many parts are still available for these machines, except engine parts, as they are getting quite old.
Cheers, Gadge

Hi, I have an old 5hp massport rotahoe. Belt driven 2 speed. The brass gearbox drive cog is flogged and is locking up now. Are there any spares available for this ?
