Hello to members. I have completed a restoration of my grandfathers Lawn Patrol which he purchased in 1959. The project has taken a couple of years and required the need to gather a few (many) bits and pieces to ensure that the mower is 100% manufacturers parts. A full disassembly and bare metal effort took place. Some very small tension washers and items like them were hard to clean but eventually they became presentable. I worked with a local sticker maker to reproduce a full decal set which helps to set the mower off quite well. There were many trips to paint and product providers and a few 'lets start that again' moments.

These mowers were quite a good look in their day and this one in particular did a lot of work for the family over the years. A note: the 1st time I saw this old girl was when I was a pre-schooler and I remember asking my grandfather "What's wrong with it"? HIs reply: "it's flooded". This became a great source of frustration for me over the years being kid who had to mow the lawns. However, there are lots of memories attached to this fine working and attractive family piece.
I hope you like the photos.
Regards,
Steve

Good Evening ODK members,

Noileg you have done a beautiful job on this Lawn Patrol mower. The decals really set it all off, is the decal on the coil cover a smaller version of the starting instructions that was on the cowl on previous models?

All the best
Paul

G day noileg,

congrats on an outstanding result.
Could we see the underside? That looks ahead of it's time and would have required a payment plan for many.
The intake is unique. It appears filtration takes place after the snorkel. That makes sense as there is already the advantage of the air entering from up top.
What a cool looking rig. I take it that ribbed section at the front is where you put your foot when starting?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Thanks Paul. Yes the decal is a smaller version of starting instructions. Your mower looks to be the last 2 stroke model. The only text missing at the end of instructions was "Good Luck" I have included a shot of the underneath for Mowerfreak and front shot as well. My photos were of poor quality it seems.
Regards,
Steve

Hi Noileg,

Just as nice underneath as on top, yes good luck should certainly be added. Did you get any spares of the smaller decals made? I wouldn’t mind the coil cover one and the smaller ones for the air diaphragm and rear of cowl.

All the best

Thanks to all for the kind acknowledgement of my Lawn Patrol project. It will continue now and overtime with the writing of (Francis) John Boundy's story and his background in the Airforce, Boundy Diesel and Boundy Manufacturing - all done with help from members here. Happy with that Jack??

Looks nice noileg. No need for blades I guess.

Hello MF, noileg, Mystyler Paul, Gadge and all,
Yes, a great topic!

In 2018 I sponsored the digitisation of John Boundy's War Record.
He clearly played a significant part in WWII
His record is about 150 pages long!

I feel John Boundy deserves credit for his contribution to early AUS rotaries.

Steve, I welcome your commitment to the Boundy story.
Hope you're happy with the response??

Yes Jack, I am happy with your response. Overtime we shall get the story written and with the help of his son Peter (hopefully) and Boundy's War Record - extensive, it should be a bit of fun!!!
