Picked these up today from Morwell, bit of a drive but well worth it. Don't know anything about the Dekson self propelled but I guess I will work it out

morning Norm, I used a Deckson many years ago. cuts well. It's a bit primitive, the motor slides across to engave drive.
You can build up weld the drive dogs. .

Interesting, I did notice the motor slides across, the drive cone was the bit that worried me but your suggestion makes me more interested in getting it going. Primitive and simple are the best ways to make tough machinery to get tough jobs done. Bells and whistles are for show ponies

Good find Norm if they were cheap enough.

It's rare these days to get an old Briggs like that on the Dekson not blowing smoke but is easily changed if need be.

$100 for the lot I thought was pretty good, and there is 3 good blade carriers on the 24's. The Deckson has me interested, he said the Briggs had no spark

I guess you won't be tempted to drive up to the NSW central coast to get a decrepit body and a few 24 odds and ends. Very pleased to see you got that haul.

Picked these up today from Morwell again, this makes 7 of these I have picked up from Morwell in the last few years. There must have been a lot of them down there over the years.. Paid $150 for this lot, looks like one of the Honda motors will run with a new carby Now I have 9 of these here that I can work on over winter to get ready for when the grass starts growing again

You're not wanting at the moment NormK. There's even a wind up starter among the pack. Glad you're having this good fortune.

I hadn't even noticed the wind up starter MF, I will have a look at that tomorrow

You could sell it and the cup for a decent profit and just fit a pull start.

Now that's better buying than buying new blade plates or getting one made up Norm.

I'd keep the impulse starter as the other parts will build up a broken one ,I have impulse starters that need parts to fix them.

Hi Max,
I am still 2 blade carriers short at the moment to fix what I have here and the other plates I will have to get made up is the sliding plate the F/C's mount on and I can also use them for the PT's with a couple of small modifications, I will try and avoid fitting PT's to them because I also have to make up the weight to bolt onto the crank to stop the kickback. All takes a lot of hours but my aim is to have at least half a dozen ready for next September/ October. Should keep me busy over winter.
I also need a couple of belts for them as well.

That's a bit of a problem if you need blade plates ,might be worth putting an ad on Gumtree saying will pay $50.
for a Victa 24 , you never know it may be easier to buy a mower for parts.

Any 24 I picked up is rebuildable as long as the base is not broken in half and even then there is usually a bucket of bits I can salvage

Picked these up today now I have 12 of them so that should give me plenty to do over the winter months

Do a line up shot of all the ones you have. If you had them all going you could mow the world.
Interesting the various motors on them. Have your seen a Tecumseh on any?

A line up of all them is a bit hard to organize because 6 of them are put away up the side of the house, and 2 have been stripped for parts but the plan is to get them all back up and running after I get some blade carriers made up. There is a mix of motors on them, a couple of Hondas, Briggs, PT's and the rest will end up with F/C's on them. Haven't come across with a Tecumesh, but one of the Deutschers I picked up some months ago somebody had fitted a poor little 120cc Honda on it. Motor was good but way undersized for a 22 inch cut Deutscher slasher
One thing as with most mowers the front wheels and axle are most time flogged out and trashed. That is usually the main area of work I have to do on them apart from the motors. Often these have been dumped outside in the weather for years because they couldn't get them started

Well done in your efforts reviving them. Have you seen Chondas on them? I'm sure a Victa V40 would work ok.
Have your seen Briggs vertical pulls? Would a 3hp cope or would a higher rated version like an I/C be required?

12 is a good find Norm, you'll be running out of room soon if they turn up this quick.

Cut down a few fins on the head and cut 2 back on the barrel so I can fit a PT decomp valve to a F/C motor. Be interesting to see if it effects the cooling in any way

it seems to come in batches, may not see anymore pop up for 12 months or so. Same thing happened with Ariens, got 6 all in a few weeks and then nothing since, and that is not for the want of looking and scratching around

Soon your property will resemble a bus depot. A depot of Victa 24s and 600s neatly parked in rows.

Hopefully not MF, I hope they move on to their forever homes quickly but that probably won't be till September October
