I have a number of full crank steel Victa bases that are in good condition with no rust in them for free if anybody wants them before they go to scrap. Seems a shame to throw out good bases but I have no use for them

Hi Norm,

I'm not after any bases but was just wondering if you could easily drill the base for a Power Torque motor
as I thought that would work but have never tried it ,the exhaust hole would need to be cut ,or use a 4 stroke
motor with a spacer.

I guess if you have lots of bases it's probably not worth the time to drill them.

Hi Max,
I have cut a full crank base and fitted a PT motor to it. Works fine but I would only do it if I was short of bases but I have plenty of PT bases, wheels are my main issue except for my hatred of the float needle problems which is making me seriously think about giving up fixing the 2 strokes.

Hi Norm

I thought you may have done that conversion as I always had too many bases so I never tried adapting the rear discharge
full crank steel base, good to know it's an option.

I think there should be a solution to the leaking needles ,I know you could test for problems before fitting the cap by
turning the cap upside down and using a pressure tester.

I'd think it can only be a cap or float problem because all the old caps work well.

Send a prepaid small plastic bag (under $10 for a bag that takes up to 5 kg) with problem caps , needles and floats to CM for testing as he can pressure test them.

Hi Max,
it is not always the needle not seating, the next time the needle sticks in the seat and so far I have tried 2 of the clips and in both cases they pissed out. On the one I was having problems with the second cap I took the spring out and it now seems to be working fine, no leaks and starts, that is all I want. This mower I had running fine a couple of weeks ago then it sat and then the needle was sticking. I had tried it previously with the clip and it pissed out the primer cap.

Hi Norm,

When I first assembled a clip it slid loosely over the post but when assembled the float was a little tight to move
so I pushed a 2.8 mm drill through the metal pivot but you always have to bend the little tab at the back of the clip
to take the tension off the plastic float then the float worked as usual but it looks like you have tried everything with
these caps and they still stick or leak.
