Pretty sure I have the victa corvette 500 or something close with a G4 carb. The two kill switch wires attached to carb I pulled out, originally snipped the brighter coloured one like brown coloured which is positive? And then wired it up the handle with a momentary toggle switch. Didnt work. Tried wiring the black assume negative kill wire to the toggle, now when I start it just cuts out after the first high rev of the engine. If I have to might need new kill wires especially how I snipped it short.
So these run off the ignition coil? And so does the spark plug wire? But I assure you i have been tinkering only with the two kill wires from carb.

The black wire is the kill wire, all you need to do is earth this one out

So I ran a lead from the black lead to a momentary switch. From the switch a ground lead to a bolt on handle.
Is this what you mean? Because it doesnt work.

The reason it isn't working is because your handles are not earthing to the motor, either through rust or paint. If you run a temporary wire from your switch to the motor it will kill the spark, then you can slowly work out where your handles are not getting continuity back to the motor

Hangon i think the killswitch is something to test later. Today I only got it to start briefly then tried multiple times to start my victa again and it wouldnt start. I reinstalled the needle and float but could it be the primer bulb causing this?
Thanks Alex

Ok so now you are talking about it not starting, that is another ball game. Firstly just let the black wire hang loose and not touch the body or motor. Going back to your first post it revs then dies, nothing to do with the kill switch, the problem is the float needle not allowing fuel to flow. What needle is in it, it needs a viton tipped one, the plastic ones just don't work.

And the next question that needs to be asked is have you been using this mower and the kill switch started playing up or is it just new to you and you are trying to get it going? Makes it easier to work out if we get the correct story.

Its a new mower, yeah i reckon its a needle problem then. I borrowed a plastic needle from another g4 carb but yeah now I will buy a metal needle and then start talking more about the killswitch later if that works.

I installed the new viton tipped metal needle. Mower starts however revs hard and throttle doesnt change much about the revs. Might need to fix this before I attempt the killswitch wiring stuff. Does anyone have resources about governor on my mower? It would be a governor and throttle issue?
