Well, Norm your a bloody jinx haha

I checked all the bulbs just before I sent the reply this afternoon. Tonight, the right parker wouldn't light up. A gave it a tap with my knuckle and it lit up and continued to work. That would indicate bad earth or poor quality batten holders causing arcing/poor connection.

Will keep an eye on it

Maybe dielectric grease is worth a shot

Saw an 09 elantra this evening - blown right.

Max, I'm at 117k, owned since 92k, known the car since new - can never recall any bulb replaced

Good info about the pitting - I have always wondered if it was arcing causing it on other cars

The sole headlight globe I replaced on the laser about five years ago was a $10 item from K mart I bought at night time and fitted in the car Park. I recall it was a made in India.
Funny thing is it experienced it's first gremlin only recently when the wipers wouldn't come on. The fuse was fine. They worked again when I restarted the car.
The power outlet for the cigarette lighter is now dodgy where it's flickering off if you move the connection.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi Tyler ,Norm and Mf

It's a strange one Norm as I've heard dealers replacing the wiring and other parts and the globes have still blown.

Yes it does sound like a arcing problem Tyler ,It may be worth using Dielectric Grease to protect the connections .

Pros of Dielectric Grease

Helps prevent voltage leakage
Helps insulate the electrical connection in frigid conditions
Protects against water damage
Protects against corrosion
Protects against dirt and grime
Protects against heat damage
Protects against material bonding
Protects against electrical overheating

I have fixed a few cigarette lighters lately Mf, by just removing them and cleaning them up in the kitchen sink with stainless Steelo .

Cheers
Max.

Mine is a bad connection to socket, not dirty contacts.
