Hi Mich
Depends on the post.
Some can be retrieved.

We encourage members not to use 3rd party hosting
for this reason. Hosting accounts come and go.

Yes, a lot of good information lost.

I have deleted whole topics; simply because the
story has been lost.

Cheers

The problem with Photobucket images is probably due to them changing over to a charge system from a free system a few years ago. I know I once used them but they switched over without giving a warning but at least they let me download all my photos before the account was closed. They actually locked quite people from their online stored images until they pay a fee to unlock them and to have a paid account. I for one simply don't have the extra cash just laying around.

I currently using Imgur for photos use in posts; unless, the site I am on uses direct transfer. The direct transfer is actually easier to use as I can just snip items on screen here and post them without having to create a separate image file. But some sites still require you to upload an image file that is stored locally.

Yes it is. Just like losing a good member that tries their best to post accurate info and sometimes corrects other posts that are incorrect. I didn't do it to be a show off; just want the receiver to have the correct info.

I just left such a forum as members just couldn't stand it that I corrected some their posted information. I got tried of getting my head handed back to me in a proverbial basket.

There are a lot of people now that you can't seem to please even when they know you are going out of your way to help them. I seem to find a few myself.

Hi Mich , AVB and Jack

People can act a little odd sometimes, I guess you should never never doubt what nobody is sure about. smile

This reminds me of the guy who couldn't start his mower and tried repairing the mower but still the
mower wouldn't run ,he eventually gave up and went inside, then his daughter 15 minutes later goes into the
house and tells her dad she has fixed the mower and it's running great now.The Father looks at his
daughter and says, what did you do that for ? ,now you've made me look stupid.

Cheers
Max.

Yep some places make special laws for them.

Oregon is one of two states that don't allow customers to pump their own gas. (The other is New Jersey.) The law was first introduced in 1951, when many states had similar statutes and gas-station pumps had fewer safety measures.

Cheers
Max.
