Hello members

Had another lucky day on the scrounge and apart from some other bits I decided to get two blade carriers which I know wont fit anything I have but looked interesting enough, can someone id the model Victa this one is off ?
It's a dished carrier and has a genuine blade bolt in place which I think says Victa V 9 - 203 ( presume this is a part number )

Thanks
wce

Hello wce
That's a pretty famous design.
It reflects a time when domestic mower blades were still
reflected in terms of cutting and catching.

This was a great blade holder, but note the theory here.
The blade holder presents as aerodynamically neutral.
The blades did everything else - throwing and catching.

Later, Victa would change their design philosophy about that.

The Green Book says it all ...
Note AUS was still using SAE sizes after AUS metrication.

Hope this helps.

wce,
once again you haven't struck gold, I have a pile of those sitting here, probably end up in the scrap bin one day

Good morning Jack and Norm

Thanks for the information Jack

Norm, you must be really keen on these carriers, you can have this one for free, just pay the postage fee.
The gold was to visit this very old market garden which is the heritage of this area, look through the sheds, the lovely old home and have a chat with a couple of really nice folk. It's been sold hence the garage sale.
When I looked at the picture posted for the ad I spotted a bucket with mower wheels and they mentioned mower parts in the ad so thought I would have a look as it was 5 mins from home. Went straight to the bucket of wheels on arrival, nothing interesting on top so started looking further, saw a familiar colour, and there was a Sunbeam rear wheel, found the other rear wheel and a front wheel plus one early Turner wheel, same as on my F61. There was a couple of Victa 2 strokes at the back of the shed but not what I was hoping to see. Asked the chap if he had seen any other wheels and got a negative response, the only other shed was a small one around the back of the chook runs but he was sure it just housed the old rotary hoe but wasn't sure what else might be in there so we had a look. Sitting on the hoe was a section of rod with 4 mower wheels on it, the missing sunbeam front wheel and the 3 Turner wheels ! all the sunbeam caps were there as well. It was pretty close to gold for me as I'd been hoping for a set of Sunbeams for the Fastcut and they are pretty thin on the ground.

Cheers

Yes wce,
It is those golden days that make this hobby all worth the while, congrats on finding the wheels. As for the blade carrier, thanks for the offer but I will pass on it. As I said, the ones I have here will most likely end in the scrap bin, I will never use them but maybe in years to come somebody might come here looking for one

Hi Norm

It looks like a 1986 Rover plate for the 20 and 21 inch mowers .

I have that wrong Norm ,the Rover 20 / 21 have 3 outer bolts for the boss and the Rover ride on has the 4 outer bolts.

A guess would be a seventies Rover Ranger / Colt. The centre hole looks larger in the after market plate though.
