Thanks All. I still have to fit up the engine and test drive it.
It is a truly frightening machine.... Will have to make sure I wear steel caps and not thongs ; ) .
I will put together some thoughts and tips soon.
There is some poetic licence on some of the paint but based it mainly on this brochure.
It would have been impressive to walk into a dealership in the 50s and see all the machines looking like this. Its almost art.
I didnt fully understand how the ratchet mechanism on the outside of the hubs worked but now it is togethere I do and can hear them ratcheting when turning on one side and locking on the other.
I just love the quality and the fact that these machines are designed to last and be rebuilt which is sadly lacking in machinery today. We live in a throw away world.
I am also looking for a Mark 15 or 25 4 stroke villiers that were also fitted to these machines if anyone has any leads on a good one. It would need to have the correct rotating bolts set in to the crankcase to bolt onto the maching similar to the two stroke ones
