Hi Guys,

I need help to identify this old Victa Utility lawnmower of it's history, year, model, engine (2-Stroke?), Oil/Fuel Ratio, carburetor type, etc. I just bought this through Facebook for $20. I think this is a great project for restoration for my YouTube channel "Varietech". I believed this is a G3 type carburetor if I'm not wrong but I'm not sure what is the broken part off the carby hanging off the wire. I appreciate for any inputs. See attached photos. Thanks.

Regards,
TheCarbyMaster

Hi TheCarbyMaster

Full Crank 2 stroke Victa engine 125cc utility, 25:1, G3 carby. The applicator appears broken, but are still avaible on ODK I think

Probably a 1972-75

Just an addition to the above, I was wrong. The applicator is the little tension ring which hooks into the spring. I meant the connector

Unfortunately, its NLA through ODK. I would try some old mower shops. The throttle cable hooks through a brass pin, which slides and cuts off spark

You should probably invest in these gears as your ones may be worn. These operate the governor and are prone to slipping and jamming

Tyler,

Thanks for the info! Yes It sounds 2-Stroke when I pulled the starter. I'm wondering where is the decompressor valve?
How is the throttle cable connected and how this broken wire (applicator) function (stop switch?)? I believe the wing on the top of the carburetor is for air vent (governor) but trying to figure out the throttle connection and this broken wire contact. Thanks.

Cheers,

Hi CM,
most likely no decomp valve if so it would be under the fan shroud into the head. The wire on the throttle connection is the kill switch wire

Hi NormK,

It's interesting to find out how the decompression works on this type of mower. I have a spare G3 carby which I can see where the broken part was. I'm still trying to figure out how this kill switch works and how and where is the contact. Attached spare G3 photos.

Cheers,
CM

G'day CM,

Yup, the deco valve is missing, and it's the NLA new 'long' type.

Easily picked up on FleaBay, and rebuild kits are available too; here's a 'how to' I wrote up on the rebuild: https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/u...ssor-valve-rebuild-how-to.html#Post85918

Carby exploded diagram is here; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=11468

Shop manual excerpts are here; https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/54967/victa-engine-parts-list-and-
manuals.html#Post54967

The contacts are the 2 brass parts in the connector. There is a plastic spring you can't see when it's assembled, that normally holds them out of contact. 'Earthing' connection is via the throttle cable inner, to outer, to cable clamp on the carby body.

Cheers,
Gadge

Thanks Tyler,

I can see the decompression valve is above the engine, under the cowling. Sure I will invest on the gear trains.

Cheers,
CM

Hi all,

The engine number should give more info to get a closer build date.

Cheers
Max.
