I have just picked up a 75 Victa Imperial in very good condition considering its age. I have another which I put on a new motor. However on this one the blades don't throw the clippings into the catcher, but tend to sit of the lip of the catcher and work back into the blades.

Any thoughts on this please.

Hello Nevk

The most obvious solution will be the adjusting of the
Deflector Plate.

These plates are fitted to all reel mowers with a front catcher.
This plate [60] is adjustable by tabs [59]. Move the
deflector down (closer to the reel) to get the grass
into the catcher.

The reason reels have deflector plates is to accommodate
different grasses and the different characteristics between
dry and wet grasses.

Hope this helps

Another question on the Victa please. The motor is a VICTA HK25 L1033. It has a good spark, cleaned carbie and good fuel supply but won't fire. I suspect it might be a points issue. Can you get a Coil Module that doesn't use the points please.

Hello NevK

The polite convention on these forums is to thank
folks for replying to your previous question.

Most times, a lot of thought goes into replies.
Maybe someone else will reply to your last question.

In this case I feel it was an oversight.
[You used 'please' twice in your second question]

I hope you get a reply mate.

G'day Jack and NevK,

Tecumseh made later engines with ignition modules, but I'm unsure if they'd be compatible. My Kirby knowledge is limited, but you can still buy new points for them. Well, at least for Tecumseh motors.

I don't collect mowers. I just require Multiple Mowing Solutions™.

It's been awhile since anyone looked at this, I came across it looking for some info on my imperial, but if your still there outdoor king stock a universal electronic ignition module. I have used these on a Stihl and a Briggs. No idea how they work but made both motors start and run possibly better then new.
Good luck with it.

If I can get a large enough hammer it will run for awhile just trying to get away from me
