I have a new homelite dx 20 inch I have used it mabey 10 times now it is not wanting to run and it it does run it will backfire and die in just a few secs. I have changed fuel filters and spark plugs any ideas whats wrong?

hi lee have you checked the flywheel key it may have sheared
and knocking out the timing which would cause the backfiring
all the best

G'day Tommy. My Homelite was backfiring too. so i drained the fuel and put new fuel in it at 25:1 fuel/oil mix. Mine wont run properly unless it has a full tank because the sucking jet starts at around the 300ml mark.

Did your saw lose power gradually before it would not start? Suggest you remove the muffler & check the spark arrestor on the side...It may be blocked with carbon.
