Hello
ODK history lovers
If ever there should be a mower recorded it would be the
Heavy Cut.
The brand had two owners …
Post WWII,
Mobilco became a major AUS manufacturer of
agricultural machinery, and to a lesser extent, horticultural
machinery. What’s the difference?
Agriculture goes to industry production; Horticulture goes to
domestic products. It’s not an easy distinction.
The
Heavy Cut was a heavy-duty slasher mower introduced
by Mobilco in the 1950s. It was a hugely successful machine
and I have written about it. [see Related Reading].
It is less well known that when the Mobilco company expired in
1977, but some DNA survived.
This is the story of the second owner,
Heavycut Machinery of
Bayswater, North Victoria.
The situation was explained this way: -After the closure of Mobilco Australia Pty. Ltd.
in 1977, Mr. Fred Taylor, who had been Australian
Sales Manager for 21 years, formed Heavycut
Machinery which has since been manufacturing
A range of slashers from its premises in
Bayswater, Victoria.
Heavycut Machinery is owned and operated
jointly by the Taylor and McMillan families,
and employs skilled tradespersons to ensure
the highest quality product.TO BE CONTINUED …
