Not the first of April yet.

So Aussies have taken the US habit of stamping image on the hard currency. First it was just going to the be fifty state quarters now an new image of something is showing everytime I turn around, I just wonder how many of our quarters are fakes now. OR we did steal the Aussies idea.

I think there are many other cars ahead in the queue!!
If it must be from that fold, perhaps a certain car of the year from my year of birth would be way ahead.

P76 or Camira MF? - 2 most controversial wins I suppose. Except the years without winners - or the infamous 'lemon on wheels'

Leyland Australia's win. Quality control was crap but the car offered innovative features and showed up the other makers on how far they fell short of European practice. Is it coincidence that the XD Falcon with it's weight saving features, started development the same year the lightweight large car from Leyland made it's debut?
We'll never know the true extent to which this much maligned car influenced the course of Aussie motoring history.

Man down the road had a Leyland Moke - looked after it very well. Spent more time pushing it than driving it.

I think both the Camira and P76 were both good in concept, but let down by build quality. They both had design faults, unfortunately the P76 wasn't around long enough to see the second model fixes. By 84 when the second Camira was released, too many people had been burned.

The servicing didn't help - mechanics used to pushrods, single barrel stromburg carbies and ignition points suddenly faced with transverse engines, OHC, euro design and engine management systems.

I am biased though

The Camira at least gave Holden a good bit of money in the export of the Camtech engines and the wagon bodies to the UK

The extremely peaky engines with a lack of torque down low didn't appeal to Australian buyers.
The limited run of EFI Camiras on Super petrol were rocket ships though.

I used to love the sound of an automatic Camira!
