Spotted this mower for sale a few weeks back and followed up as the pictures and description weren't very good. It will go into the collection, starts and runs beautiful ! It has done no work at all and has been maintained very well. I cant find the exact model on the info chart on this site and am not sure why it has the other numbers boxed under the model number ? 505 obviously denotes a 20 inch ( just short ) but would love a victa expert to give there thoughts on this one. Catcher is in perfect condition.
Was that the one on gumtree (in either Willeton or rockingham - there was a grey one on gumtree recently as well). You definitely got a good deal if I remember the price correctly
You won't be stretching that in those conditions. These are military grade mowers with extra armour plating around the deck. It must be heavy to operate.
You could make an asteroid proof home out of these decks!!
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Very nice machine. You would think these would be snapped up in a heart beat to use as personal mowers. But you have to mix oil with petrol so its too hard...
Thanks Tyler, it's a later model than I thought. This mower was in Tapping. The staghorn has been in the same spot for 5 years, doesn't get full sun all the time but some of the brutal weather we have had has left it's mark, she is sun hardened ! Thanks foe the lawn compliment, very happy with the condition at the moment.
It's a beast of a thing MF, 5mm thick around the skirt, 35 kg without the catcher and dry fuel tank. The gear box would need to be heavy duty to push the thing around in all conditions. Were the gear boxes good in these or did the give trouble due to the work load ?
Yep it's a big tank Speedy, not sure of the capacity but it would need it, I suspect it would not be fuel efficient. Not sure of the specs of the mower but would most likely be running a fair main jet size. I like the colour too.
Hi Sapper, yes the fuel mixing and a bit of odour is not for everyone except us, even though it's self propelled, as MF stated, it would still be heavy to maneuver.
Hi Norm, Yes it's in exceptional order, shame it has the Ill get closer to the wall than anyone else on the left side.
It looks to have been in sand laden soil conditions going by the underside. That 5mm would have eventually turned to 0 if given enough time. I've seen a 1970s thumb latch base with slits of missing aluminium carved through!!
It's a shame about the scraping. I can never understand that. Weed wackers put paid to the need to get close to walls.
