Hi All,

I have a chonda Komodo GX120 engine (could be a GX160 the sticker says GX160 but the engine has GX120 stamped on it) on my cylinder mower and am having an issue where my remote throttle keeps closing with the vibrations of the engin running.

I have checked the return spring, the throttle leaver friction nut, both ends of the throttle cable are secure and the cable itself seems fine.

I am looking for suggestions as to what else to check.

Im over constantly having to hold the throttle in place when using the mower.

Ive added a few photos incase somebody can spot something that im missing.

Thanks for your input.
H.

Unless you are a pedal type throttle or one you must hold open you remove the spring the following image as it is primary for go kart operation.

I have a Kamodo edger here that I pulled the carby off a couple of days ago because it had had ethanol in it and as usual it was toast. I was looking at it but it doesn't seem to have a throttle cable. I will have a look at it later and see if it has the spring AVB has mentioned
There is a difference between a snake bite in animals and using ethanol in small engines, both have the same end result it is just that ethanol takes longer and by the time the motor has stopped running the owner has forgotten that he cheaped out and put ethanol in it

Thanks

I'll remove it and give it a go .

Interestingly its not been an issue for the last 8 years. Only in the last 2 weeks have i been having problems.

Cheers

Removing that spring has made no difference.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I assume you mean no difference. Then about the only other possible is the throttle lever and cable assembly is worn I would think.

I am usually one to try to get the original aspects working, but what about adding a red fibre washer under the main nut - give a bit more tension

Hi Horace and all,

I would just tighten the lock nut so it has more tension on the throttle but if you have already tried that, I
would remove the nut and spacer cover and fit an extra thin shim washer, make one from sheet metal or
from a tin can if you don't have a washer .

Cheers
Max

Sorry, I do mean "no". I have amended my post.

That's what I'm thinking too. I will try the other suggestions form Tyler and maxwestern first. If that doesn't help I'll get a repalcement.

Thanks all.
