Hello ODK history lovers
This post topic is our Historical Record for the servicing of Kirby 4-strokes
of the 1960s. It’s the official Kirby Mechanics Handbook of that era.
This is a story about giving back …

BACKGROUND:
The great Australian industrialist James N Kirby is best remembered today
through his legacy as a great philanthropist. If ever a man – from humble
beginnings – gave back to Australia, it was Sir James Kirby.

“I’ve come up the hard way and I suppose it is because of that I feel I should plough something back.”

OutdoorKing members probably best remember James N Kirby for the small
internal combustion engines Kirby Automotive made in the 1950s, 1960s,
and 1970s.

This 1960s Kirby 4-stroke repair manual is the best record I have of that time.
It cannot date post 1965. TROVE suggests a 1963 date - that I
find highly credible ... https://trove.nla.gov.au/version/172057891
