The base adapter plate is certainly interesting in the fact that it looks factory but the base could also take a 4 stroke motor as well. This is many years before the Powertorque was made to match the 4 stroke bases so they could fit whatever motor the market was wanting. I don't know of any other manufacturer doing that.
